Removal Day Hints and Tips

Hints and Tips for your Move

SELF ASSEMBLY FURNITURE

With this type of furniture, dismantling and reassembly are not covered by our quotation. The most appropriate person to dismantle and reassemble these fittings is the person who originally assembled them and this work should be performed prior to the arrival of the moving team. We can undertake this service for you at an additional cost, however our insurance policy does not cover dismantling and re-erection of self assembly furniture.

ATTICS AND LOFTS

The contents of attics and lofts should be sorted out and placed in a bedroom or another convenient spot prior to the arrival of the moving team, this ensures that nothing is forgotten.

CURTAINS/BLINDS/ITEMS FIXED TO WALLS

All of these should be taken down prior to the arrival of our moving team, please place mirrors and pictures in a neat stack.

COOKERS/FRIDGE/FREEZERS AND WASHING MACHINES

These should be empty and disconnected prior to our arrival.

CLOTHING

Clothing can be packed into bags/ suitcases. If you require any Wardrobe boxes for any hanging garments, please let us know. These hold up to 25 garments in each box.

BEDDING & LINEN

All bedding and linen should be folded and placed into suitable boxes or bags, however if we are providing a packing service, lay these items onto a bed and they will be packed by a member of our moving team.

CHINA/GLASS/ORNAMENTS & BOOKS

China, glass, ornaments and books can only be left in the cupboards and on shelves if we have quoted for a packing service, however it is the customers responsibility to check all cupboards have been emptied.

FOOD

CONTENTS OF GARAGES/GARDEN SHEDS

Please note that under no circumstance will we remove any flammable substances, old tins of paint, creosote, paraffin, matches, gas bottles or similar items, as these items are not covered by insurance, and will invalidate any insurance for other items. Any other containers or bottles should be securely sealed with tape to prevent spillage.

CARPET PROTECTION

Please be aware that we offer Carpet Protection or Hard Floor Protection as optional extras. These can be laid safely onto your carpets/ hard floor to protect them from any footprints/ dirt or furniture markings. Please be aware that we cannot allow dust sheets or blankets to be laid on the floor due to Health and Safety reasons. Please contact us should you wish to discuss this matter.

ACCESS

Access to and from the doorway of your home is critical for our vehicles please explain to your neighbours in advance that a large vehicle will be parked outside your home and possibly cause some degree of inconvenience to them. Similarly inside your home please ensure that passageways and staircases are left completely clear for our moving teams.
